Here at the ranch you can buy a stable, catch a chocobo and go traveling with your chocobo.

To start, you will need to have the Chocobo Lure materia. . To learn more about materia, check out the main about section, or go to the Materia Exchange in the Mog Shop.

Once you have your Chocobo materia, you will be able to catch a chocobo. However, you will first need to talk to Chocobo Billy about buying a stable to put your chocobo in. Here you can see an example stable where your chocobo will be. Each chocobo will have it's own stable for it's owner to go to.

Once you have bought a stable, you can talk to Chocobo Billy about catching a chocobo. He will send you to the Chocobo Fields. Along with the Chocobo Lure Materia, you will need to buy 5 Mimmet Greens to gain the chocobos trust, so it will go back to the ranch with you. You can buy the mimmet greens from the Chocobo Department in the Mog Shop. Once you've caught your new chocobo, Billy will give you a form to fill out so you can give your chocobo a name.

Once Chocobo Billy has setup your chocobo in it's very own stable, you will be able to visit it and do different activities.

Play Play with your chocobo! This keeps it happy and liking you.
Feed Chocobos eat 3 mimmet greens a week. If they go two weeks without eat, Chocobo Billy will release your chocobo.
Travel Go traveling with your chocobo to find cards a treasures. This can be done once a week. The higher the level of your chocobo, the more places you can visit.

As your chocobo advances levels, new colors will become available for your chocobo. Changing your chocobo's colour is not required, just an add on. If your chocobos level is high enough, the salon will feed your chocobo a special type of green which will change your chocobo's feather colour.

Your chocobos can gain levels too! The more levels your chocobo gains, the more things that are available to you. How do they gain levels? Carob Nuts! Finding them is all on chance, however. The only where they can be found is while traveling with your chocobo. However, the higher level place, the more of a chance you will find a carob nut.

Once your chocobo gets to level 10, you can speak to Chocobo Billy about how to meet the Guru.

Going on vacation, hiatus or just won't be able to look after your chocobo? Chocobo Billy will take care of your chocobo until you get back for 50 gil. While Chocobo Billy is taking care of your chocobo, you will not be able to travel.

There are many different areas you can travel to with your chocobo. Your chocobo will have to be a certain level to reach certain places. There are fields, deserts, rivers, mountains, caves and tunnels. There is also a rumor that the Guru knows how to get chocobos to be able to reach areas in the ocean!
